Montessori Preschool, Montessori Child Care & Kindergarten Program

The Preschool, Montessori Child Care & Full Day Kindergarten Program is a multi-age three year cycle which includes children ages two and one half through six. Entering students must be three by December 31 and must be fully toilet trained.

Children experience an academically-enriched environment within a well ordered social community. The presence of these two factors is based on the principle that children absorb their environment, language and culture in a way that is unique to this age. Therefore, the rooms in this program are designed to include a variety of both academic and cultural material.

Children also experience their classroom as a place where they can develop socially. They are free to move about the classroom and relate to other children in conversation and in their play. The teachers show genuine respect to each child. The children, in turn, model this behaviour in their social interactions.

A special characteristic of the Pre-K & Kindergarten program is that the classroom encompasses the areas of learning and socializing which are designed to foster independence, concentration, self motivation and a love of learning. Children learn reading, writing, language, mathematics, geography, science, history, music and French using many manipulative materials in the room and through teacher guidance.

Another feature of this program is that the materials are accessible to the children. They are free to choose activities appropriate to their level and progress, and develop at their own pace.

The Preschool, Child Care & Kindergarten Program is available five days a week as a morning 3 or 4 hour session, four days a week as a 3 hour afternoon session or five days a week as a 4 hour afternoon session. Kindergarten age children attend five days per week - Monday to Thursday 8:30/8:45 to 3:00 AND Friday 8:30/8:45 to 11:30/11:45.  We also offer an All Day Montessori Program for children who require a child care program in addition to Montessori education.
